Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Crimson Fog Satin — Modern Performance Reimagined

The Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Crimson Fog Satin is a complete reimagining of the iconic single-cut, built from the ground up for players who demand speed, precision, and tonal authority. Where traditional Les Pauls settle for vintage 24.75" scale lengths, this model stretches to 648 mm, raising string tension and keeping drop-tuned riffs articulate and tight. A mahogany body carries Ultra Modern weight relief and is capped with a maple top featuring a highly figured flame maple veneer, all finished in a dark satin Crimson Fog. A Modern Contoured Heel and rear belly carve improve upper-fret access and seated comfort.

What Sets the Prophecy Les Paul Apart

Three engineering choices distinguish this model from a stock Les Paul. First, the DAPS (Dual-Axis Pickup Stabilization) system anchors each Fishman Fluence pickup directly to the body in a precision-machined pocket, eliminating traditional pickup rings while keeping the pickup perfectly parallel to the strings. Second, the LockTone Modern bridge with roller saddles and a Frequensator-inspired string-through-body tailpiece firms up the low end while keeping treble strings slinkier for expressive bends. Third, the thermally aged one-piece maple neck is reinforced with graphite rods and topped with a volute at the headstock transition.

Body Construction and Weight Relief

Mahogany delivers the warmth and midrange weight players expect from a Les Paul, but the Ultra Modern weight relief keeps the guitar light enough for long sets without sacrificing sustain. The maple cap with flame maple veneer adds visual depth under the satin finish, while multi-ply binding on the top and headstock reinforces the refined aesthetic.

• Body Material: Mahogany — classic Les Paul tonal foundation
• Top: Maple cap with highly figured flame maple veneer
• Weight Relief: Ultra Modern — reduces fatigue during extended play

Neck Profile and Fingerboard for Speed

Shaped to Epiphone's HyperGlide profile, the thermally aged one-piece maple neck is a slim D that supports fast runs without feeling insubstantial. Graphite reinforcement and a volute at the headstock transition add long-term stability. The bound ebony fingerboard with its compound 254–356 mm radius transitions from a rounder feel at the nut to a flatter surface near the body, suiting both chord work and aggressive lead playing.

• Scale Length: 648 mm (25.5") — ideal for drop tunings
• Fingerboard: Ebony with 254–356 mm compound radius
• Frets: 24 stainless steel with hemispherical end dressing
• Nut: GraphTech, 43 mm width — slick string return and tuning stability

Fishman Fluence Pickups and Hardware

Custom-voiced Fishman Fluence humbuckers in the neck and bridge deliver three distinct tonal voices through push/pull controls: a modern high-output active voice, a vintage PAF-inspired voice, and a single-coil-style split via the volume pulls. The LockTone Modern bridge with roller saddles and Grover Locking Rotomatic tuners work together for tuning stability and expressive response.

• Pickups: Fishman Fluence HH — three voices via push/pull (modern, PAF, coil-split)
• Bridge: LockTone Modern with roller saddles
• Tuners: Grover Locking Rotomatic with kidney buttons
• Controls: 2 Volume (coil split), 2 Tone (voice select), 3-way toggle — 9V battery required

Who Should Play the Prophecy Les Paul

The Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Crimson Fog Satin is the right choice for modern rock and metal players who want Les Paul authority with contemporary playability. Players who tune down to drop C or drop D will benefit from the longer 648 mm scale, while those who favor high-gain tones will appreciate how the Fishman Fluence pickups stay tight and articulate even with distortion cranked. Studio musicians benefit from the three pickup voices — a single guitar covers modern metal, classic rock PAF tones, and glassy split-coil cleans.

The Prophecy Series Reimagined

Epiphone's most ambitious Modern Collection redesign re-engineers iconic silhouettes rather than simply refreshing finishes. The 2026 lineup introduces a longer scale length, graphite-reinforced HyperGlide necks, compound-radius ebony fingerboards, and Fishman Fluence electronics across the entire series. Every Prophecy model ships in a Protector Ultralite case with a silver embroidered logo.
